Jaguar has extended the availability of its new Ingenium petrol engine, a 2.0-litre unit producing close to 300bhp and 300b ft of torque, to the XE, XF and F-Pace. It’s the first time the engine has been available in the cars, following its debut in the four-cylinder F-Type, which was revealed at the New York motor show earlier this year. With the new engine, Jaguar claims fuel economy of 37mpg for the F-Pace, 40mpg for the XF and 41.5mpg for the XE. CO2 emission for the XF and XE are 163g/km and 157g/km respectively. The F-Pace's figure is yet to be confirmed. The new engine is at its quickest in the XE; Jaguar claims a 0-62mph time of 5.5sec, while the XF and F-Pace take 5.6sec and 5.7sec. It's a big world for small cars and Chevrolet isn't one to stick to big SUVs and pick-up trucks. After multiple spy shots revealing key details, the North American car maker has just revealed the all new Chevrolet Spark a.k.a the Beat. The hatchback features a familiar body shell, but opts for sleeker design. The new car has its height lowered by around 40 mm, while the wheelbase gets a slight increase as well. Up front, the car features a tweaked version of the Chevy dual port grille with the lower end extending all the way to the bottom of the front bumper. The car also gets redesigned fog lamp enclosures, a new bonnet and new headlamps. Mercedes-Benz has revealed the facelifted CLA-Class in its sedan and shooting brake avatars. The CLA sedan will be making its debut at the New York Motor Show this month. For European markets, bookings for the car will open in April, while the model will reach dealerships in July. All models now have a diamond radiator grille in black as standard, plus a new front bumper with a silver, black or chrome trim strip. The rear bumper is optionally available with a panel incorporating a chrome or black (Night package) trim strip between the tailpipes. The tailpipes themselves sit flush into the bumper. Nissan has launched the 2017 GT-R in India at a price of Rs. 1.99 Crore (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It is Nissan's halo product in the country and will be brought in through the CBU route. For now, the GT-R will be sold exclusively through the Nissan dealership in Noida which will also house India's first Nissan High Performance Centre. The Mirai fuel cell vehicle is really going places. The Mirai, which last week won the 2016 World Green Car title at the New York Motor Show, is now set to be launched in Sweden and Norway. The Mirai (which means 'future' in Japanese) is the world's first hydrogen fuel cell sedan, benefiting from Toyota's research and development of the fuel cell technology spanning for over two decades, and world-leading experience in hybrid vehicle power systems. Using hydrogen to generate electricity within a fuel cell stack, the Mirai produces no tailpipe emissions other than water. In addition, a full-tank driving range of around 500 kilometres bears comparison with a petrol-powered car and the refuelling process only takes about three minutes to complete. BMW has revealed its new plug-in petrol-electric X5 xDrive40e ahead of its planned public premiere at the New York Motor Show early next month. Driven in prototype guise by Autocar UK at BMW's Miramas test track in France last year, the hybrid-powered X5 runs a longitudinally mounted turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine. The four-cylinder unit has outputs of 242bhp and 258lb ft of torque and works in combination with an electric motor that's sited in the forward section of its standard eight-speed automatic gearbox and produces 111bhp and 184lb ft. Altogether, the X5 xDrive40e possesses a combined system output of 309bhp and 332lb ft. This gives it 55bhp more but 81lb ft less than the popular turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel X5 xDrive30d. Jaguar has offered the first look of its all-new Jaguar XF, less than a week ahead of its official reveal. The firm plans to give the second-generation XF a public debut at the New York Motor Show on April 1. But the car will be seen in full online on the evening of March 24, when the car will be driven by British stuntman Jim Dowdall over two 34-mm diameter wires high above water. The stunt drive by the man who's driven in Bond, Bourne and Indiana Jones films among others is designed to showcase the XF's lightweight credentials. A sole exterior image of the new XF reveals sharper creases on the bodywork, including the sculpted bonnet with Jaguar's distinctive power bulge, the flared rear wheel arches and pronounced shoulder line. The first car in McLaren's Sports Series, the 570S Coupé, has been revealed ahead of its debut at the New York Motor Show this week. The car will go head to head with the Porsche 911 Turbo S and Audi R8 V10 Plus, and is billed as McLaren's most usable car yet. The UK, Woking-based company says the 570S Coupé "introduces McLaren DNA to the sports car segment for the first time", bringing the lessons learned during the development of the 650S supercar and P1 hypercar to a lower price point in the region of £140,000. The 570S Coupé also marks the official birth of the McLaren Sports Series, which will be developed as the entry-level tier in a new three-rung model strategy that also incorporates the Super Series and Ultimate Series. Renault-Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn has pledged that autonomous cars from his company will be pitched right at the heart of the mass market. Opening the New York Motor Show with a keynote speech on Marh 23, Ghosn also said the car industry would change more in the next five years than in the next 20. He noted that the key developments would be the growth of electric cars in response to stricter air quality and emissions reduction targets, greater connectivity in cars as more technology firms entered the industry and the adoption of autonomous cars. He made the distinction between autonomous cars and driverless ones, saying that he expects a car to be able to drive itself through a city with the driver's hands off the wheel by 2020, but with the driver being able to take back full control at any time. The Nissan GT-R has been facelifted for the 2017 model year. It features new styling, an upgraded cabin and an even more powerful V6 engine. It's on display at the New York Motor Show. The upgraded GT-R features a new interpretation of Nissan's 'V-motion' front grille, along with a reinforced bonnet and new bumper design, said to give the car more downforce. Along the sides, the sills have been widened to improve air flow, while the rear gets a reprofiled bumper to sit alongside its quad exhaust tips. Jeep has launched the most powerful series production SUV to go on sale yet at the New York Motor Show. Called the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, it's a 707bhp brute that can out accelerate a Range Rover SVR, Bentley Bentayga and a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. Using a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 that's shared with the Dodge challenger SRT Hellcat, the Trackhawk also delivers 645lb ft of torque. The thick-chinned SUV can sprint from 0-100kph in 3.5sec - identical to a Jaguar F-Type SVR - and tops out at 180mph (288kph).
