The Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf was initially planned for the Middle-East, but the British brand has since decided to offer its ultra-luxurious saloon across the globe. There will be a right-hand drive version for the UK too, and sales in markets such as Singapore and South Africa are planned in addition to Europe. But it won’t come cheap – one will cost £696,000 (RM4.46 million) in the UK, according to Autocar. Now where does that put it in comparison with the limos in the market. Well, an extended-wheelbase Rolls-Royce Phantom costs £373,824 while the most luxurious Bentley, the Mulsanne, is priced at £229,360. So one can have a Phantom and a Mulsanne plus a grand tour around the world for less money than a Taraf! Sitting on Aston Martin’s VH architecture, the Lagonda Taraf is powered by a 550 hp 6.0 litre V12 engine paired to a six-speed ZF gearbox. It will be very limited as only 200 units will be built, and customers can personalise their cars via … [Read more...] about Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf priced at £700,000 in the UK!

The Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf will now be available in markets outside of the Middle East, the automaker announced. But don’t expect the limited-production super sedan to be available on this side of the pond just yet. According to Aston Martin, the new Lagonda Taraf is now available in the company’s home market of the U.K. as well as Continental Europe and South Africa. The Lagonda Taraf has been adapted for both left- and right-hand drive markets. The new super sedan was launched in Dubai last year and was initially offered only in the Middle East. Like the Aston Martin One-77 supercar, which was limited to just 77 examples, the Lagonda Taraf will be offered in limited production of no more than 200 examples. The Lagonda Taraf is based on the same flexible VH chassis as the automaker’s regular production models as well as its bespoke models such as the One-77, V12 Zagato, and CC100 Speedster concept. Although the styling of the Lagonda Taraf gives a nod to the … [Read more...] about Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf Availability Expanded Beyond Middle East

We somehow knew it wouldn’t stay Middle East-only for long, but this comes as a very pleasant shocker. The British carmaker has announced a slew of countries that the Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf (this is probably its final production name) is now available in – and Malaysia is one of them! Yup, the super-luxury saloon has been re-engineered for right-hand drive, and will be offered to clients through Aston Martin’s VIP sales programme, “with precise pricing details remaining confidential.” The prices are likely to vary significantly anyway, due to almost-limitless customisation options via the ‘Q by Aston Martin’ bespoke service. The Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf launched in Dubai late last year, and was initially a Middle East-only model. The series is “strictly limited” to 200 cars. A 550 hp 6.0 litre V12 and a six-speed ZF auto bestow the carbon fibre-bodied vehicle with a top whack of 280 km/h. Like William Towns’ … [Read more...] about Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf available for Malaysia?
The Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf saloon is being offered for sale in the UK with a price tag of £685,000. A price for the super-luxury saloon first appeared on the website of specialist dealer H.R. Owen, but has since been removed. Originally destined exclusively for the Middle East, it's understood that customer demand has swayed Aston Martin's decision to offer the car for sale in the UK. The announcement was made at the Geneva motor show in March. In addition to the Middle East and the UK - where the Lagonda will be offered in right-hand drive form - sales will now take place in EU-legislation-compliant continental Europe and other select global markets, including Singapore and South Africa. It's near-£700,000 price tag pitches the Lagonda well above other super-luxury saloons. An extended-wheelbase Rolls-Royce Phantom costs £373,824 by comparison, while the Bentley Mulsanne costs £229,360. Based on Aston Martin’s VH architecture, the V12-powered Lagonda … [Read more...] about 2015 Aston Martin Lagonda priced at £685,000
Future Lagonda models, two of which are due to be launched in 2023, will need to have unconventional designs, according to Aston Martin boss Andy Palmer. He believes they must break away from the usual forms adopted by the established luxury rival models from Rolls-Royce and Bentley. “The truth is I don’t want either of them to be what you’d call a traditional saloon,” Palmer told Autocar. “If we just do another three-box, it’s going to be hard to break into that market. So what I’m challenging the design guys to do is to look for something that breaks that duopoly [between Rolls and Bentley] but which still has appeal to what is a relatively conservative market, and what is still very much a chauffeur-driven market.” It is also possible that one of the cars will be a pure electric model, according to Palmer, and could share architecture with the forthcoming Aston DBX crossover. “The large-car platform, … [Read more...] about Aston Martin Lagonda set to break the three-box mould
Aston Martin announced the extended availability of the hyper-luxury Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf sedan, pushing the sedan’s market availability to further markets. Previously, sales of the striking four-door were restricted to the Middle East. Now, the Lagonda Taraf is available for special order in continental Europe, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Singapore, and other selected markets. The angular Lagonda Taraf pulls inspiration from the wedge-shaped Aston Martin Lagonda from the 1970s. While the Taraf is undeniably focused on luxury and craftsmanship, Aston went to great lengths to ensure the Taraf boasts the performance capabilities befitting the brand. Underneath the sumptuous bodywork, the Taraf sports Aston’s tried-and-tested VH platform, which underpins the rest of the Aston Martin lineup. Under the hood, the 6.0-liter V-12 engine pushes out over 550 hp. Aston Martin has been uncharacteristically tight-lipped regarding any performance, pricing, or technological … [Read more...] about Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf Availability Expanded to Further Markets
Is the Aston Martin Rapide too “common” for you? If so, you’d better watch the newest episode of “Ignition,” in which host Jonny Lieberman explores a different Aston four-door from Aston that carries a $1 million price tag. To create this extravagant sedan, Aston blew the dust off the very old and storied Lagonda nameplate. The so-named Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf, when boiled down to its elemental parts (and VH-platform chassis), is an Aston Martin Rapide with some gorgeous carbon-fiber bodywork. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as Lieberman explains in the video. Despite the regular Rapide bones under the fancy new duds, the car is as special as the name, and the MSRP, imply. He kicks off the episode by going through the rich history of the Lagonda brand, giving special attention to the wonderfully angular Aston Martin Lagonda of the 1970s. The new Lagonda Taraf carries on the slab-sided spirit of the beleaguered classic Lagonda, with … [Read more...] about Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf Tested on ‘Ignition’
When Aston Martin introduced its beautiful, DB9-based Rapide for 2010, it proved that pretty and practical aren’t mutually exclusive at its stores. But the Rapide is graying at the temples, and Aston is planning to build on the car’s formula of four-door fabulousness with not one, but two vehicles, according to CEO Andy Palmer. The first will be the DBX crossover (which will indeed have four doors, as we predicted when the DBX debuted), while the second is a sports sedan that will be called the Lagonda. To be clear, we’re not talking about the Rapide-based Lagonda supersedan (shown above) that Aston’s Q division is building for customers in the Middle East and a few other lucky markets. “The Taraf, which is the car you know as the Lagonda today, will not come to the United States unless it is going to a private collection,” Palmer told us during an interview at the recent New York auto show. “To homologate that … [Read more...] about Next-Gen Aston Martin Lagonda and Five-Door DBX Crossover to Take Over for Rapide
Aston Martin is today announcing that the luxurious new Lagonda super saloon will be made available, in strictly limited numbers, to more customers around the world. Aston Martin will now accept orders for the Lagonda Taraf – the latest in a proud line of saloons revered worldwide as ‘the finest of fast cars’ – from prospective owners in more major markets. It is now available to clients in EU legislation-compliant Continental Europe, the United Kingdom and South Africa, with the Lagonda Taraf now re-engineered to be available in either left or right-hand drive. CEO, Dr Andy Palmer said: “Opening up the Lagonda Taraf to an increased number of customers around the world was a high priority for me as soon as I joined Aston Martin late last year. I wanted to be able to offer this exceptional saloon to the potential owners from around the globe who have been enquiring about it, and I’m very happy that we have been able to expand the Lagonda … [Read more...] about 2016 Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf
