Koenigsegg Agera RS revealed here at the Geneva Motor Show. It may not be quite as extreme as the One:1 that came before, but it's more extreme than just about anything else on the road. The latest evolution of the Agera (itself based on the CCX that came before) packs the same 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 as the previous versions, tuned here to produce 1,160 horsepower. That may be less than the 1,341 hp that made the One:1 the first "megacar" (so dubbed for the metric megawatt of power it produces), but it's still incrementally more than the Agera R (1,124 hp), Agera S (1,016) and "base" Agera (927). And in markets where E85 is available, it can be specified with flex-fuel capability to boost output up to the same level as the One:1.Along with the power boost, the new Koenigsegg Agera RS boasts a revised aero package – including new a front splitter, front winglets, side skirts, underbody and active rear spoiler – as well as revised ventilation, lightweight insulation, active … [Read more...] about Koenigsegg Agera RS proves that ‘extreme’ is relative [w/video]
Another potent version of Koenigsegg Agera supercar has been officially revealed at the on-going Geneva Motor Show. Called the ‘Agera RS,’ this is a stripped-and-whipped version of the successful ‘Agera R,’ and offers a mighty 1160 bhps to be explored on the tarmac. The Agera RS benefits from a number of technological enhancements from its elder sibling- One:1. These includes light-weight carbon-fiber components, aero components for boosting downforce (up to 450 kg at 250 kmph), front splitter & winglet, side skirts, and a dynamically active rear spoiler. Its wheels are sized 19 by 9.5 inches up front and 20 by 12.5 at the rear, while the curb weight is stated to be 1390 kg.Powering the RS is an uprated version of the 5.0-litre V8 mill that has been optimized for regular pump gas and now puts out a whopping 1,160bhp, as compared to the 960bhp of the Agera R. However, the E85 flex fuel capability hasn’t been dropped completely and will be able to … [Read more...] about #2015GenevaMotorShow: Koenigsegg Agera RS is here!

Koenigsegg is officially amazing, at least according to the Guinness Book of World Records. The well-known record-keeping organization has granted the Koenigsegg Agera the record of quickest 0-300-0 kilometers per hour by a two-seat production car. The time? A scant 21.19 seconds, recorded at the Angeholm Airfield in Sweden on September 2, 2011, with Robert Serwanski behind the wheel. That's just over 186 miles per hour, then back to a complete stop, in 21 seconds. Yowza. That's not the only impressive feat accomplished that day by the Agera, though it is the only one that was certified as a world record by Guinness. For the record, Koenegsegg's masterpiece scooted to 300 km/h in 14.53 seconds on its way to 200 mph in 17.68 seconds. It can stop with equal alacrity, taking an evil 6.66 seconds to halt from 300 km/h and 7.28 from 200 mph.The final stat is arguably the most impressive: 0-200 mph and back to 0 in just 24.96 seconds. Want to know what's even better than that? The fact that … [Read more...] about Koenigsegg Agera gets official Guinness World Record for quickest 0-300-0 km/h

We’re in Dubai by happy coincidence, as Michelin arranged this drive as part of its launch of the new Super Sport tyre, so expect some gratuitous talk of just how sweetly those tyres handle shortly. But it’s kind of fitting, too, that our first drive of the $1.3 million Koenigsegg Agera, the car to take the fight to Bugatti and Pagani, takes place in this oasis of pure new money and nuclear-style power. The first production car left the factory just last month with 898 bhp, courtesy a monstrous 5-litre V8 twin turbo engine contained within its 1290 kg, pre-impregnated carbon-fibre and Kevlar chassis. This is the prototype, armed with 800 bhp, but as the V8 fires into life and settles to a stuttering, angry idle, it seems like more than enough. The Agera has only two real rivals, if we discount the SSC Ultimate Aero, and most do. It competes with the most exclusive variants of the Pagani Zonda and the all-conquering Bugatti Veyron. That’s about it, and when they … [Read more...] about 898 bhp Koenigsegg Agera driven! – Swede Victory
