We have all read about how important soldiers are for any nation. They are required to follow the highest order of discipline and safeguard the borders of their country, irrespective of the dangers and challenges they face. And if need be, they have to be willing to sacrifice their lives to protect the motherland, keeping the country's interest before their own. We at OVERDRIVE have been covering the length and the breadth of the country to visit different war memorials to pay a tribute to these brave souls. For this edition, we have travelled to the north of India to pay a tribute to the sacrifices of these brave soldiers by visiting the Punjab State War Hero's Memorial and Museum in Amritsar. And it didn't end there as we also drove all the way up to the Indo-Pak border in Wagah. The new-gen Hyundai striking a pose in front of the Punjab State War Memorial For a special trip like this, even the car had to be as special. And that is the reason we chose the new-gen Hyundai Verna, … [Read more...] about Travelogue: Exploring Amritsar in the new-gen Hyundai Verna

The new Toyota Supra has apparently been leaked early by a Japanese magazine, and the Internet is about to explode. Japan’s Best Car magazine has, according to SupraMkV.com, printed the automotive equivalent of Kate Middleton sunbathing topless. If it’s genuine, you’re just not meant to be seeing it, and Toyota will be livid about it. The article is said to show pictures of the production-spec Supra MkV alongside basic dimensions and engine specifications, but the car looks so similar to the 2014 FT-1 concept that any semi-responsible motoring hack has got to tread carefully – just in case. Given the hype around this car, it could be an elaborate hoax, or the magazine might simply be using FT-1-based images to illustrate the specs sent to it by Toyota Japan. The lower front skirt is different to the concept’s, but it’s incredibly close. We just don’t know what’s what, yet, and none of us speak Japanese in order to translate. The specs … [Read more...] about The New Toyota Supra Has Been ‘Leaked’ By A Japanese Magazine

Fisker (yes, that Fisker) is coming to CES 2018 with a new electric car called the EMotion. The company's claims are impressive: It will be able to cover a minimum of 400 miles on a single charge, top out at 161 mph and is launching at the very end of 2019.The news here, however, is the EMotion's claimed ability to charge to 125 miles of range after only nine minutes of being plugged in. Yes, it’s using lithium-ion battery technology, but Fisker is upping the ante above your typical battery pack.“What we have done is we have packaged them (battery cells) in a new way, in a unique, proprietary battery module, where we have created a new cooling system. What it does is allow for us to probably have the most energy dense battery pack in the world because we have been able to put these cells very close together and still be to cool them very efficiently,” designer and company namesake Henrik Fisker says.A 143 kWh battery is utilized to deliver the long 400-mile range, but … [Read more...] about Fisker EMotion EV: Here’s the new 400-mile range luxe EV coming to CES 2018
The drum roll continues. Mercedes-Benz has released another batch of photos of the upcoming G-Class SUV along with some details. The photos show the new G-Class tackling a mountain trail and showing off its suspension travel and wheel articulation. There’s nothing new here -- the G-Class was always known for its abilities off the road, but what is interesting is how the company is claiming that its flagship SUV is better on road too. Also Read: The older G Wagen was no slouch, especially one wearing a bright green suitThe upcoming Mercedes-Benz G-Glass will not be based on a monocoque chassis, as has been the case with many modern SUVs which share their name with iconic off-roaders. The new G Wagen will continue to be built on a ladder frame chassis like the older model, only with a trick suspension which is as good off-road but better on it. Other features carried over from the older car include the three separate differential locks and a mechanical low range … [Read more...] about The New Mercedes-Benz G-Class Is A Lot Like The Old One
Here it is: the new Mercedes G-Class. No, really - it might look just like the old one, but don’t be fooled. The styling changes are best described as evolutionary (read: minimal), but the latest G-Wagen is wider, has a whole new interior, has pinched a load of tech from the S-Class, and will receive new engines. Oh, and it’s here early. We weren’t supposed to be seeing the vehicle until 15 January at the Detoit Auto Show, but a full set of images has been leaked. They confirm that - adopting a similar approach to the new Jeep with its new Wrangler - Mercedes hasn’t played much with the SUV’s iconic styling. The interior - as revealed by official images released a few weeks ago - has the same dual 12.3-inch screen instrument binnacle/infotainment setup as the E-Class, CLS and S-Class, while the lower section of the centre console shares its design with multiple cars from Stuttgart’s current line-up. The steering wheel’s smarter than before, … [Read more...] about The New Mercedes G-Class Has Arrived Early Thanks To An Image Leak
For 2019, Ford will debut a new Ranger (1982-2011), followed the next year by a new Bronco (1966-1996). While there have been some camouflaged Rangers seen running around, Ford is not showing anybody what the new Bronco will look like.Since they’re leaving it up to our imaginations, do you think they’re going to ace the new Bronco, or drop a big deuce?Let’s define what both outcomes mean:Aces: The new Bronco will feature excellent, retro-modern heritage styling much like Ford managed with the new Mustang in 2005. Though it’s unique from a styling standpoint, the Bronco will share basic underpinnings with the global/North American Ranger to save on development costs. This is the option most enthusiasts are hoping for if they have any sense. The Bronco is once again a sales hit, and receives successive generation(s) with revised styling and core characteristics intact. The Bronco legacy continues, untarnished except for that one time in June of … [Read more...] about QOTD: Do You Think Ford Will Ruin the New Bronco?
Price have been announced for the all-new Nissan Leaf, and it’s good news for EV buyers. Since battery power is the way things are going, we feel pretty much duty-bound to tell you about it. While the entry point has risen by £310, to £21,990 after government grants, the basic model now has a 40kWh battery instead of a measly 24kWh one. The new car, says the (frankly useless) NEDC test cycle, boasts a 50 per cent range increase on the old one. We’d like to see a WLTP figure for both. That larger battery also gives more power. A heady 148bhp is on tap, although the instant nature of EV torque delivery will make it feel faster than it is. At a current typical benchmark electricity price, recharging from dead flat at home would cost around £5.60 for the claimed 235-mile range. That’s equivalent to something like 200mpg at current fuel prices. An Economy 7 electricity tariff could cut an overnight charging bill right down, pushing your daytime usage charges … [Read more...] about The New Nissan Leaf Still Isn’t Cheap, But It’s Much Better Value
Last month, we showed you photos of the new Kia cee’d with its rear end completely uncovered. Now, clearer photos of the third-generation family hatchback have surfaced on the forums of Korean motoring portal MotorGraph, unmasking the entire front of the car as well. The new face vaguely resembles that of the outlandish Proceed Concept, which was meant to preview a shooting brake version of the car. Sweptback headlights flank a trapezoidal “tiger nose” grille, while an aggressive lower air dam and triangular fog light surrounds sit underneath. It does have a hint of Stinger to its look, don’t you think?Moving to the side, the longer bonnet gives the cee’d less of an MPV-like monobox look, and a simpler side window graphic can also be seen. The rear is as we’ve seen before, with slim trapezoidal tail lights, deep bumper cutouts and a number plate recess that has been moved from the bumper to the tailgate.Australian website CarAdvice believes that the … [Read more...] about 2018 Kia cee’d undisguised – is this the new Cerato?
